"cotton" in a Funchal tree
In Madeira island this tree is called Sumaúma. In english, is Kapok. The tree grows to 60-70 meters. The fiber, like cotton, is light, very buoyant, resilient, resistant to water but it is very flammable.

Na ilha da Madeira esta árvore é chamada Sumaúma. Em Inglês, é Kapok. A árvore cresce a 60-70 metros e fibra, que se assemelha ao algodão, é leve, muito dinâmica, flexível, resistente a água, e é muito inflamável.
