Encontrei esta bota azul esta semana, na segunda-feira,durante a visita que fiz a bordo do navio de cruzeiros Island Escape, que faz viagens semanais com passagens regulares ao Funchal, a Marrocos e algumas ilhas de Canárias. Está numa das paredes do navio que dispõe de uma agradável colecção de peças de importantes internacionais dos mais variados desportos.
E porque falo especificamente da bota de Ronaldo. Porque, além de ter um drible de bola, uma arrancada fantástica e ser oportuno no remate, tem outra característica muito importante que é ... isso mesmo nasce na ilha da Madeira, mais concretamente nesta bonita cidade do Funchal.

A Câmara Municipal do Funchal (na imagem) associou-se ao Dia Mundial da Diabetes que se comemorou no dia 14 de Novembro. Respondeu positivamente ao convite formulado pela Federação Internacional da Diabetes e iluminou de azul uma das principais praças da cidade, a o Município.
O edifício da câmara surgiu azul na segunda-feira passada, assim como o Museu de Arte Sacra e a Igreja do Colégio.
Devo confessar que no primeiro dia que vi, depois das 23 horas, parecia que estava a entrar na twilight zone. Não havia ninguém na praça onde caminhei sozinho.
Contudo, no sábado, no Dia Mundial em que tirei a fotografia, já vi luzes de outras cores a interferir no simbolismo que se pretendia com o azul.
De qualquer forma, fica a acção de sensibilização em prol de uma causa que está a crescer formente no mundo.
As luzes estiveram acesas até o início da manhã de hoje.

In the port of Funchal, although the movement of ships is increasing throughout the year, is characterized by two times of high intensity. In April, some cruise ships that make cruises in the Caribbean and throughout that area, traveling to Europe where they are positioned to travel in the summer in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe. No porto do Funchal, embora o movimento de navios esteja a aumentar ao longo do ano, caracteriza-se por duas alturas de grande intensidade. Em Abril, uma parte dos navios de cruzeiros que fazem cruzeiros nas Caraíbas, e em toda aquela área, viajam para a Europa onde se posicionam para viagens no Verão no Mediterrâneo e norte da Europa. Com a chegada do Outono na Europa, além das folhas que caem das árvores, os navios que vieram aquecer-se ao sol fazem o percurso inverso. Como se diz por aqui, depois de "subirem", no mês de Novembro vão para "baixo", conforme se pode ver na imagem que registei um dia destes, com um navio da Holland America a "descer", podendo ver-se a torre do Convento de Santa Clara à esquerda.

One day I went through the Marina of Funchal. Passing by one of the sailboats I saw a piece of paper what attracted my attention. Showing its location on the island of Madeira and the direction it would take to get to Cape Verde. What I conclude is that not always the closest road is the fastest, at least in terms of sailing. As you can see, the best course is to catch the snake best winds.

Um dia destes passei pela Marina do Funchal. Ao passar por um dos barcos à vela que lá estava um pedaço de papel despertou-me a atenção. Mostrava a sua localização na ilha da Madeira e o rumo que ia seguir para chegar a Cabo Verde. O que deduzo é que nem sempe o caminho mais perto é o mais rápido, pelo menos em termos de vela. Como se pode ver, o melhor rumo é serpentear para apanhar os melhores ventos.

I was on board the Queen Victoria recently. Besides the beauty on board, I saw, among the many models of ships which had from Cunard, the company who belong to, the Queen Mary, accompanied by a painting of Queen Elizabeth 2, sold to Dubai to be a floating hotel.

Estive a bordo do Queen Victoria recentemente. Além da beleza que encontrei a bordo, vi, entre as muitas maquetas de navios que tinha a bordo da Cunard, a companhia a que pertence, vi esta do Queen Mary, acompanhada de uma pintura do Queen Elizabeth 2, vendido para o Dubai para ser um hotel flutuante.

This image accompanies me every when I go to one of the balconies of my house. Many are taken daily by tourists, on street level, passing through the Convent of Santa Clara to which it belongs. But this perspective is not possible the other hand, want to share with you by because, really, is very beautiful and has great historical and architectural value.

Esta imagem acompanha-me diariamente sempre que vou a uma das varandas da minha casa. Muitas são obtidas diariamente, ao nível da estrada, por turistas que passam pelo Convento de Santa Clara a que pertence. Mas esta perpectiva não é possível de outro lado, pelo quero partilhar consigo porque, realmente, é muito bonita e apresenta um grande valor arquitectónico e histórico.

The Santa Maria has just returned from another trip to the coastal city of Funchal and part of another, Câmara de Lobos. It is curious to see the difference in size of the big boats of their times. The Santa Maria, that we see a replica of that used by Columbus on his way to America, would be one of the largest in its time. Today is tiny compared with the large cruise ships and Independence of the Seas, which was once again the capital of Madeira.

A nau Santa Maria acaba de chegar de mais uma viagem pelo litoral da cidade do Funchal e parte de uma outra, Câmara de Lobos. É curioso ver a diferença de tamanhos dos grandes barcos das suas épocas. A Santa Maria, que vemos aqui uma réplica da utilizada por Colombo a caminho da América, seria um dos maiores no seu tempo. Hoje é minúsculo comparado com os grandes navios de cruzeiro como Independence of the seas, que mais uma vez esteve na capital da ilha da Madeira.
