a secular construction stronger than the waves

The Cais do Carvão (coal) was built in the early years of the 20th century. With the decline in the use of coal as the driving force of ships, the infrastructure has lost influence and has been abandoned to this day.
However, that built heritage has shown that it was built with mastery. Although a part has been carried by the force of some waves, the main part of the enterprise shows that the unaesthetic tetrapods are not always necessary to protect.
Throughout its existence, the Cais do Carvão has been whipped with waves like these that can be seen in the photograph and other much worse.  But that building and the dock do not budge.
