There is much that the Michelin doll see who goes in Rua das Cruzes, sitting at the shop entrance specializes in tires. On the other side is a twin that does exactly the same thing.

Funchal Daily Photo is associated with the day of the city

Today is the day of Funchal. The capital of Madeira marks 507 years since it was elevated to city status.

In this important day I decided to associate the launch of the new site of Funchal Daily Photo, that since 29 April 2009, publishes every day a different picture of the loaded cosmopolitan city of culture and history in every corner.
The new site was developed by Navega Bem - Web Design and results of the implementation of the project developed by PPL Crowdfunding Portugal and had the indispensable support of 16 people.
Thanks to those who made possible this important step and also thank you to all those everyday encourage me to continue to show the city with my views.
In particular, thank you to my son by Bernardo indicate the PPL Crowdfunding platform as a key factor to enhance the site.
Many thanks also to Peter, the PPL Crowdfundig Portugal.

Hoje é o dia da cidade do Funchal. A capital da ilha da Madeira assinala 507 anos desde que foi elevada à categoria de cidade.
Neste dia tão importante decidi associar o lançamento do novo site de Funchal Daily Photo, que, desde 29 de abril de 2009, publica, todos os dias uma fotografia diferente da cidade cosmopolita carregada de cultura e história em cada recanto.
O novo site foi desenvolvido pela empresa Navega Bem - Web Design e resulta da concretização do projeto desenvolvido através da PPL Crowdfunding Portugal e contou com o apoio imprescindível de 16 pessoas.
Obrigado a quem tornou possível este passo importante e igualmente obrigado a todos quantos todos os dias me incentivam a continuar a mostrar a cidade com as minhas perspetivas.

Esta é mais uma fotografia com história, com mais de 20 anos e que a fiz em diapositivos. Refere-se ao catamarã Pátria, um navio único, um protótipo, que procionava viagens confortáveis entre as ilhas de Madeira e do Porto Santo, e, ao mesmo tempo, viagens que geravam, por vezes, apreensão devido à forma como abordava alguma ondulação. Há já muitos anos que deixam a Madeira depois do Governo Regional o ter vendido.

This photograph shows buildings of Funchal. And shows more evidence the rooftops of the capital of Madeira. Among all the buildings stands the tower of the cathedral. But it was not only to show this picture I made this photograph one day. The idea was to express my joy at being dismantled over a crane in the city who was cutting the views of the iconic tower of the Cathedral from my home.

Esta fotografia mostra edifícios da cidade do Funchal. E mostra em mais evidência os telhados da capital da ilha da Madeira. Entre todos os edifícios sobressai a torre da catedral. Mas não foi unicamente para mostrar este quadro que fiz esta fotografia um dia destes. A ideia foi manifestar a minha alegria por ter sido desmontada mais uma grua na cidade que vinha cortando a vista para a emblemática torre da Sé a partir da minha casa.

I noted recently this picture for a few hours of dry thunderstorms that hit befell Madeira.
I wanted to register the rays but by the time I was looking at the horizon which stand out was the light that appeared to spaces. Not seen rays. So it was with surprise that I found this photograph with a distance when I went to see the next day the result of photographs.
However, some time later, lightning covered the entire horizon in front of my house, and give spectacular photos, but I wanted to re-assemble the equipment.

Registei esta fotografia recentemente durante umas horas de trovoada seca que abateu se abateu sobre a Madeira. Quis registar os raios mas na altura em que estive a olhar para o horizonte o que sobressaia era a luz que surgia a espaços. Nem vi raios. Por isso, foi com surpresa que encontrei esta fotografia com um raio quando fui ver no dia seguinte o resultado das fotografias.
No entanto, algum tempo mais tarde, os raios cobriam todo o horizonte em frente da minha casa, e dariam fotografias espetaculares, mas não tive vontade de voltar a montar o equipamento.

The flowers are always present in times of joy and sorrow.
Today I dedicate these flowers to our uncle Aurélio that many years ago changed their Madeira to the Algarve where he married and had children.
Unfortunately, health would not let him stick around longer and "left" this Friday. Maybe he's now with his brother Emílio who "left" us for about three months.

As flores estão sempre presentes nos momentos de alegria e de tristeza.
Hoje dedico estas flores ao tio Aurélio que há muitos anos trocou a sua Madeira pelo Algarve onde casou e teve filhas.
Infelizmente, a saúde não o deixou ficar por cá mais tempo e "partiu" esta sexta-feira. Talvez esteja agora com o irmão Emílio que "partiu" há cerca de três meses.

This is the church in the cemetery for foreigners in Rua da Carreira. The construction of the cemetery date of 1771. Its area was increased in 1852 due to the increase of British citizens on the island, which is why it is also called the "British cemetery". In the Old Burial Ground are buried some notable personalities such as Richard Thomas Lowe and Paul Langenhans, doctor and researcher who discovered the "cell Langenhans".

Igreja no cemitério para "estrangeiros" na Rua da Carreira. A construção do cemitério data de 1771. A sua área cresceu em 1852, devido ao aumento de cidadãos britânicos na ilha. Por isso é também é chamado de "cemitério britânico".
No Old Burial Ground estão enterrados algumas personalidades notáveis como Richard Thomas Lowe e Paul Langenhans, médico e pesquisador que descobriu o "Langenhans celulares".
